Modern medicine needs to acknowledge that more than 80% of our health is determined by how we live our lives — the food we eat, the work we do, the stress we’re under, the quality of our sleep, the amount we move, the company we keep, and the pollution we’re exposed to — and only 20% of our health is attributed to drugs, surgery and other external interventions.
To draw attention to this point, I delivered three poster presentations at the Alzheimer Europe conference in Geneva, Switzerland from 8th to 10th October.
The titles of my presentations are:
- The power of gratitude and breath work in reducing cognitive decline
- Every soft drink is a bullet to our brain! Or in medical speak: Could fructose metabolism be a driver of Alzheimer’s disease?
- Can adventure prevent dementia? Or in medical speak: Untangling the mechanisms of cognitive reserve.
The first presentation was exclusively for the Geneva conference. The other two posters I also presented at the Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) Conference in Krakow Poland in April.
