I’m excited to be part of the Sydney Northern Beaches Seniors Festival — Dementia Wellness Workshop — at Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club on Wednesday 19th March 2025 from 12pm to 3pm.
This uplifting, educational and social event is for anyone who wants to learn more about brain health, has been diagnosed with dementia, or is a family member or friend of someone living with dementia.
Tamar Krebs, founder of Group Homes Australia, and I will share innovative strategies and tools to enhance quality of life beyond a diagnosis of dementia.
Topics we will speak about include:
- Understanding the different types of dementia
- Communicating and connecting with someone who has cognitive challenges
- How to use the Group Homes strengths-based approach to think differently about dementia and support people living their best life
- How basic human needs are impacted by dementia
- How to boost your brain to reduce your risk of dementia, and improve brain function even after a diagnosis.
This will be a life-changing experience for anyone who wants to know more about dementia. I look forward to seeing you and answering your questions.
The event is free but bookings are essential as numbers are limited.
Light lunch will be provided.
Address: Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club, North Steyne — opposite Collingwood St, Manly NSW 2095

PS Don’t be fooled by my smile in the photo! I was terrified. I spent Christmas 2024 on Daydream Island in the Whitsundays, and it was my first time riding a jet ski. It definitely took me out of my comfort zone, and it ticked a lot of brain-boosting boxes:
- A new experience
- Physically and mentally challenging
- Outdoors in nature and sunshine
- Tested my balance and co-ordination
- Stimulated all my senses
- Absorbed my full attention and focus
- A sense of camaraderie
- Gave me satisfaction on surviving!
